Most energy bars have strange ingredients, odd sweeteners, lots of calories. Most are too sweet, and don’t taste a bit like the ingredients that went into them. But I have discovered one exception: Kind Fruit & Nut Bars. The bars, made in Australia, are made of dried fruits and whole nuts stuck together with a little fruit juice and flour. They have 150 to 225 calories each, depending on the variety. The bars are $2, and are available at Whole Foods. Even better, the bars are distributed through PeaceWorks Foundation, which donates 5 percent of the profits to promote peace around the world.
